Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) is hosting a free three-day Traumas of Law Enforcement Training in Charleston, SC from June 29 through July 1, 2026. The training is open to all first responders and covers topics that affect the entire public safety community, like line-of-duty death, critical incident stress, on-the-job injury, and suicide prevention.
All attendees will also receive information on federal public safety officer benefits and applicable state benefits. Pre-registration is mandatory and the deadline is June 22, 2026. There is no cost to register, though participants are responsible for their own travel.
Training Schedule
Monday, June 29 — Emotional Support in Law Enforcement: trauma impact, signs and symptoms, life after a critical incident, and keys to recovery.
Tuesday, June 30 — Impacts of Line-of-Duty Death: survivor panel, death notification, family assistance, funeral planning, trial support, and survivor benefits.
Wednesday, July 1 — Suicide Awareness and Prevention: survivor interview, the Public Safety Officer Support Act (PSOSA), and prevention strategies. Training concludes at 3:30 p.m.
