Chief Carter Jones Leadership Scholarship Application

Carter Jones was Fire Chief in Clarendon County for 22 years. Chief Jones was the 33rd president of the South Carolina Firefighters Association. He has been involved in the fire service for 56 years (as of 2022).  Chief Jones has worked for many years to promote and lead the South Carolina Firefighters’ Association to better benefit the members. Carter loves history and works timelessly to document the history of the South Carolina Fire Service. Carter is a leader and dedicated to his community and his church.  Carter personifies all which the Foundation represents in helping fellow firefighters.

The South Carolina Firefighters’ Foundation has established an annual scholarship to honor the dedication and love that Chief Jones gives to the citizens of the State of South Carolina and South Carolina’s Fire Service.    

The South Carolina State Firefighters’ Foundation (the “Foundation”- a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) will annually present this $1,000.00 scholarship. 

For application, please review the information below. The contents will outline the background and criteria for this scholarship. 

Complete and submit the application online. As part of the application, the applicant must also scan and submit a letter of support from their fire chief and a letter of support from anyone of their choice. Applicants will also be asked to provide a statistical form with all applications to allow the foundation to provide statics of applicants and awardees. This information will not be used to determine the awardees.
