Rickie Jenkins named Chaplain

April 24, 2024

The South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association is thrilled to announce Dorchester County Fire-Rescue Fire Marshal and longtime Association committee member Rickie Jenkins has been named Chaplain of the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association. The announcement comes after long-time Association chaplain Gary Rogers retired from the position at the end of Fire-Rescue in June 2023.

“Rickie Jenkins is an example of what it means to be a humble servant and I commend the Chaplain Search Committee for their diligence in selecting our Association’s next Chaplain,” President Malcolm Burns offered. “Chaplain Jenkins’ outstanding character, strong moral compass, dedicated servant’s heart, and experience in both ministering and the fire service made him the best person for the job.”

“I am honored to be named the Chaplain for the South Carolina State Firefighter’s Association,” Chaplain Jenkins said. “This is a unique opportunity to provide spiritual and emotional support to others. Leading religious services or ceremonies and being a source of comfort during difficult times is a calling from God that I take very seriously.”

While the role of a chaplain is expanded when taken to the state level, Chaplain Jenkins is optimistic and vows to stay true to who he is, saying, “With the Association’s support and the grace of God, we are going to ‘Make it do what it do.’”
