Register for FSIC before classes fill

November 11, 2025

If you’re planning on attending Fire Service Improvement Conference in Columbia, January 22–25, 2026, now is the time to lock in your spot. Eight hands-on-training courses are full, and the remaining — including the classroom classes — have limited availability.

The classroom seminars are a key part of the FSIC experience. This is your opportunity to learn from respected fire service leaders, sharpen your leadership skills, and take home strategies you can put to work right away. The Saturday classroom session, One Bad Day: The Proactive Mindset with Bassel Ibrahim, is at capacity, but there is space remaining in the Friday afternoon and Sunday sessions.

Friday, January 23 — “The How-To Guide They Forgot to Write”

Instructor: Deputy Chief Kevin Henson, St. John’s Fire District

This course is all about the leadership lessons no one ever writes down. Chief Henson dives into the day-to-day challenges of leading a crew — how to balance empathy and accountability, communicate with honesty, build trust, and handle tough conversations without losing your team’s respect. If you’re stepping into or already serving in an officer or leadership role, this is one you don’t want to miss.

Sunday, January 25 — “Firefighter Mayday Survey: Command Discussions”

Instructors: Bassel Ibrahim, Orlando Fire Department, and Deputy Chief Nick Ray, North Spartanburg Fire Department

Based on data from over 100 documented mayday and near-miss events, this session focuses on what goes wrong — and how to prevent it. Learn the top 15 “red flags” that often lead to firefighter maydays, explore common command pitfalls, and discuss strategies for improving communication, span of control, and rapid intervention deployment. It’s a must for command staff, training officers, and anyone serious about risk reduction.

Reserve your space today and get your brand in front of South Carolina firefighters.
