Executive Committee: Federal delegation visit

The South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association Executive Committee and staff last week met with South Carolina’s federal congressional delegation in Washington, D.C., to discuss a focused legislative agenda addressing the state’s most pressing fire and emergency services challenges.

Discussions highlighted the need to strengthen broadband and emergency communications in rural communities, the importance of reopening the National Fire Academy to support training and leadership development, and an update on South Carolina’s progress in developing a state OSHA plan in response to the proposed 1910.156 regulation. The group also spoke about the South Carolina Fire Heritage Center, sharing updates on its development and ongoing fundraising efforts to preserve our state’s rich fire service history and support future training and education initiatives.
