Each November, Crash Responder Safety Week (CRSW) reminds us of an urgent truth every first responder knows: the roadside is one of the most dangerous scenes we operate on.

From motor vehicle crashes to highway medical calls, fire and EMS personnel are among the first to arrive, and are often within feet of traffic moving at 70 mph or more. This year’s theme, “Safety Starts With You — Slow Down and Move Over,” challenges both responders and motorists to take action that saves lives.
