Being respectful, pleasant and helpful to ALL. About our opportunity York County Fire Services Department is seeking a full-time (40 hour/weekly) Senior Fire Prevention Technician to join their team! The purpose of this position is to aid the volunteer fire departments in maintaining compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration Laws and Regulations, who will also purchase and manage equipment used in firefighting. Projected Salary Range/Pay Grade 111: $20.40 - $24.48 per hour. Salary is determined based on qualifications. Supervises the technician and performs fit testing of firefighters and maintain record of and ensures that these firefighters have received physicals prior to getting fit tested. Monitors the flow testing and maintenance of all fire hydrants in the unincorporated area of the County. Checks all self-contained breathing air cylinders to ensure compliance with (OSHA) regulation for maintaining hydrostatic testing date and arranges for out-of-date cylinders to be tested by a vendor and then returned to the department, Orders and replaces expired cylinders following Board of Rural Fire Control Policy Coordinates the firefighter physical program for the departments by seeking local vendors and presenting to the board for approval. Review billing received from the vendor for accuracy. Securing purchase orders to cover the cost of the physicals. Handles complaints against vendors and seek solutions and make recommendation to the board. Coordinates pager and radio repairs of all fire service radios and pagers by receiving broken pagers and radios and sending to repair center and receiving back and returning to the departments. Creates requisitions for purchase orders when needed. Coordinates the annual Fire Extinguisher service program to maintain compliance with OSHA Arranges for the refill of an extinguisher that has been used and returns to the department. Conducts annual testing of the level A Haz-Mat suits per OSHA regulation. Assists fire departments is preparing for and Insurance Services Offices evaluation by providing administrative services such as records, charts, maps and other documents needed for the evaluation. Performs related work as assigned. About you Education and Experience: High School Graduation or GED equivalent. Four (4) years of experience servicing, training or working with firefighting equipment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certifications and Licenses: Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history Required Certifications: Must possess valid CPR and First Aid Certifications, manufacturer repair certification for SCBA. Must be forklift operator certified, may be required to obtain other technical or professional certifications as deemed necessary by the supervisor. Emergency Vehicle Driving or Class E Driver’s license, Firefighter I certification, and Haz-mat Technician certification preferred. Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
