FT Firefighter/EMT (minimum), Non-Exempt, 48/96 Schedule Salary $43,036 (Base) Lateral Hiring Scale DUQ Incentives: AEMT, Paramedic, Education, Military (See additional Benefits below) The Glassy Mountain Fire Service provides ALS-Paramedic response to the citizens of the beautiful mountains of northern Greenville County.
We are seeking 3 highly motivated candidates to fill full-time positions. The GMFSA operates a well-maintained fleet of 22 apparatus, which includes 3 new QRVs that are equipped with LIFEPAK 35 cardiac monitors. Successful firefighter candidates will possess Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (minimum) and have South Carolina Firefighter II certification. Engineer candidates must possess the firefighter qualifications plus Pump 1, Pump 2 (Mobile Water Supply) and have 10+ years of experience. All candidates must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license and maintain a valid license during employment. EVOC/CEVO/Emergency Vehicle Driving Training preferred; must obtain within 1 year of employment.
The applicant may be subject to pre-employment drug screen, and/or passing of a medical and/or psychological exam upon being offered employment. Firefighter and Engineer Candidates will be subject to a two-part exam process post interview, if selected for interview. The exam process will consist of a (1) written examination on fire and emergency medical services knowledge, and (2) a practical examination containing firefighting skills. Both portions of the exam will be administered the same day. BENEFITS: Pension Plan (PORS/SCRS), NO COST Family Health & Dental, Accrued vacation, family leave, and personal leave. 6% increase year 1. $4,000 Retention Bonus (Tiered). Paid annual training. Matching Deferred Comp up to $600/year. Additional benefits available at employee cost.
