Born in October, 1959, he is the son of the late Donald L. and Mary Lola Kerber in Schenectady, NY. He was raised in Allentown, PA and Baltimore MD. He is married to Catherine Kimbrell and has one daughter and two sons.

Ken attended and graduated from The Hill School in Pottstown, PA and graduated Boston University in 1982 and moved to Fort Mill, SC. He worked for First Federal S & L of SC, Rock Hill Orthopaedic Clinic, Miller Orthopaedic Clinic and First Citizens Bank till 2004.

Ken began his fire service career as a volunteer with Fort Mill Fire Department in 1987. He became Chief of the Department in 1995 and was hired by the Town of Fort Mill as the first paid Fire Chief in March, 2004.

Chief Kerber is a Rotarian in Fort Mill and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow award in 2004. He is an Elder and attends Doby's Bridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Mill. He has served as President of the Fort Mill Area Chamber of Commerce, President of the Chester Lions Club; President of the York County Fire Chief's Assoc. and participated in numerous other civic and professional associations.

His hobbies include firearms, hunting, numismatics, and horses.
