What The Association is About

The South Carolina State Firefighters' Association, founded in 1905 and headquartered in Columbia, SC, provides services such as education, training, benefits and representation to the fire departments of South Carolina. We seek to enhance the professionalism and capabilities of the fire service in dealing with incidents involving fire, rescue, hazardous materials, acts of terrorism, and natural disasters.

We schedule conferences, seminars, workshops, and other training events for the firefighters' of South Carolina. These training sessions are available to volunteer and paid firefighters' alike, at no charge or for a small registration fee, as members of the association. Additionally, we host the South Carolina Fire-Rescue Conference every year as a forum for debating and discussing issues relating to the fire and rescue services in South Carolina.

The association also appoints committees to assess and respond to important issues such as emergency and disaster management, emergency medical services, and other ad-hoc committees as deemed necessary.

We provide benefits to the members of the association, such as coverage for disability, life insurance, and one percent budget benefits. We also manage funds such as the Firefighters' Relief Fund, and provide the benefits thereof.
